Power cut takes out electric
A helicopter carrying out a survey in a search for minerals in Aberdeenshire caused a power cut to over 1,000 homes after it struck an electricity pylon. The electromagnetic monitoring loop, suspended below the helicopter, struck a pylon near Balmedie.
SSEN engineers carried out repairs and power was restored to all 1,004 properties affected. Aberdeen Minerals Limited said it was aware of the incident.

Electricity company reduce power cuts throughout week
South Africa's Eskom will reduce planned power cuts this week after sufficient progress was made in replenishing emergency generation reserves. Eskom's aging power stations run mostly on coal and are highly prone to faults, resulting in frequent outages which constrain economic growth. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's government has tried to reform Eskom to make it more efficient, but progress has been slow.

Severe disruption on tube after power supply failure
London Underground services were suffering severe disruption due to “power supply problems”, Transport for London (TfL) said. The issue means no trains were running on the entire Victoria line. The Piccadilly line was suspended between Hyde Park Corner and Cockfosters, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Tube stations were evacuated and closed due to the issue.

Thousands of homes affected by power cut
A power cut affected thousands of homes in the west end of Glasgow. Electricity was cut off to residences in the G11, parts of Partick, Kelvindale, Anniesland, Knightswood and Finnieston. The cut has impacted on some businesses in the area, as well as homes. The service was restored a couple of hours later.

A major power outage impacted in several parts of Oman. Chairman APSR said that the reason of the outages was due to technical reasons. Hundreds of homes and businesses in Bury were hit by a power cut. Electricity North West say 644 homes in the Elton area were without electricity. It's been caused by an 'unexpected incident' on a high voltage cable, the firm says. A statement on the Electricity North West website said they restored the service later.

Power outage in Uganda blamed on ‘human error’
Uganda is facing questions on just how much of its generated electricity serves Ugandans, days after the country entered a cycle of irregular supply and power outages, following the collapse of one hydropower station. According to the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA), Uganda produces more power than it consumes, with current installed capacity of 1,346.6MW, against peak consumption of 794MW. Energy minister Ruth Nankabirwa said the emergency shutdown at Isimba dam means key consumers need imported power.

Kirkby homes face power cuts
A number of properties in Nottinghamshire faced power outages as fire crews battled a blaze. Six engines tackled a grass fire which started on land off Coxmoor Road. Locals were advised to close doors and windows due to the quantity of smoke in the area.
